Money Matters with Ken Moraif, one of the nation’s largest financial planning firms, is seeking a skilled Director of Human Resources.

This position will oversee and manage all aspects of Money Matters’ Human Resource needs. This will include the establishment and implementation and delivery of all HR strategies, policies, and services that create, support and sustain a high-performance, entrepreneurial culture. Strong employee engagement and family orientation are core values of Money Matters. The newly recruited Director, Human Resources will be a passionate advocate and leader for helping all members of the Money Matters team to truly embrace and live our core values every day. This role will report directly to COO David Cockrum and have the following key priorities:

  • Quickly on-boards and assumes end to end responsibility bringing in-house the currently outsourced Human Resource program. Develops the overall HR strategy and annual HR plan to support the Company objectives.   Delivers a staffing vs. outsourcing plan for key (new) functional expertise as well as systems in the first 60 days along with appropriate KPIs for remainder of year.
  • Prepares, in accordance with Company’s guidelines, an annual budget that supports the strategic plan for the Department. Once approved, administers Department initiatives within budget and scope, determining if a change in direction is needed and best way to implement those changes.
  • Serves as an HR Strategic Business Partner to executive management and staff on all employee relations issues, as well as the formal documentation and interpretation of company policies, procedures and guidelines.  Serves as thought partner with executive team in organizational design and execution.   Strong influencing skills, leveraging relationships, expertise and data.
  • Responsible for the continuous and comprehensive improvement of HR programs, policies, practices and processes. Leads the HR function including employee relations/engagement, performance management, career development, compensation, benefits administration, talent acquisition/hiring and HRIS:
    • Create/implement an effective talent development framework to ensure leveraging the full potential of every individual at Money Matters.
    • Oversee the Money Matters benefit program including understanding and identifying benefit trends, suggesting/advising relative to improvements, negotiating with vendors, administration of benefits as well as all government reporting.
    • Serve as the compensation and payroll expert for the Company including benchmarking to stay competitive, new hire offer management, vendor/outsourcing decisions, sales compensation administration support and associated analysis.
    • Oversee the Talent Acquisition process including working with designated external agencies and firms as appropriate to ensure the best talent available to support key growth needs, succession planning and overall organizational design.
    • Act as the cultural leader/representative through driving of cultural programs and events. Coach and train HR team members on how to build an engaging, people-centric culture within each Company department they support.
    • Engage as the Employee champion for any and all community/charity involvement programs as committed by the CEO.
    • Provide guidance to managers on key discipline, termination, performance evaluation and performance improvement plans. Partner with legal counsel, finance and compliance to identify and mitigate employee and labor relations or compliance risk.
    • Propose, develop and implement HR policies that practices that ensure compliance with all EEOC, federal, state and local employment laws by staying informed of current legislation and updating/maintaining the Employee Handbook while also formally communicating key policies, changes. Addresses and corrects all identified, reported potential violations with support from senior management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

We seek a Director who is inspired and inspiring, with the passion and track record of success in creating and growing a small to mid-sized company and workforce that are modern, forward thinking and loyal. We seek someone who is experienced in running a small but engaged HR department with energy, drive and “can do” attitude in a rapidly growing, professional services office environment.

The Director must have a minimum of 10 years of traditional Human Resources leadership – ideally in a high-touch, B2C, professional services (e.g. financial services, insurance, real estate etc.) environment where personal service was pivotal in rapidly scaling and sustaining top line growth.   Likely a current no. 2 reporting to an experienced VP who has helped develop his/her talents via continuous, progressive challenges.

  • Minimum of five years of team management including hiring, goal setting, coaching, and daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cadence of managing a small support staff team. Well versed in blending contract and outsourced expertise and services with in-house team leadership
  • Proven ability and bandwidth to personally identify, design and implement data-driven Human Resource programs.  Comfortable in holding themselves, their teams and others in the organization accountable for their role supporting the employee as the internal customer.
  • Understands the needs of a high touch, professional services Company.  Commands the respect of day one based on being a recognized and innovative expert in the HR field.
  • Current and proactive in ensuring any confidential data/records or regulatory issues and compliance concerns are immediately identified and addressed with accuracy and urgency before adversely impacting the Company’s ability to execute on its mission.
  • Able to adapt and spot best Employee Satisfaction practices from inside and outside the organization and evaluate and implement relevant changes/improvements.
  • Ability to understand and identify skill gaps in the organization and effective in developing, promoting, hiring or recruiting in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Hands-on comfortable with HRIS systems, tools, vendors and best practices while also balancing the cost/benefit challenge of in-house vs. outsourcing to attain key Company milestones.

Money Matters with Ken Moraif, one of the nation’s largest financial planning firms, is seeking a skilled Director of Solutions.

This position will oversee and manage all aspects of Money Matters’ financial solutions/service needs. This will include the support of key channel relationships including our current, long-time custodial relationship with SEI, as well as supporting the emerging relationship with TD Ameritrade.  The ideal candidate will have superior program management skills as well as exceptional communications and influencing skills. The newly recruited Solutions Director will be a passionate advocate and leader in the annual business planning process as it pertains to building current and future revenue streams.   This role will report directly to COO David Cockrum and have the following key priorities:

  • Quickly on-boards and assumes end to end responsibility of all service offerings as the Product Manager. This entails the life-cycle management of current services, new functionality added as well as the definition of all new financial service offerings.   Owns the business case planning process to determine addressable market and competitive analysis as well as making pricing recommendations.   Manages the rollout and associated programs needed to launch, enhance and support the MM team maximizing the revenue targets set in the business plan.
  • Supports, in accordance with Company’s guidelines, the annual business planning calendar from a financial services standpoint. Advises senior management of the risks and benefits of each new market opportunity.   Prepares and effectively manages the associated resource plan to meet business plan targets.
  • Responsible for the continuous and comprehensive review of vendor/partners required to deliver final services solutions.   Directly negotiates with those selected.   Experienced in holding vendors accountable for cost and documented, milestone-based plan of work (POW) deliverables.
  • Interfaces with system development teams to define any interfaces or systems development required to integrate new solutions with existing technologies/platforms.  Supervises, defines and signs off on acceptance criteria and subsequent testing on any new enhancements delivered prior to rollout.  Maintains an active priority log of future enhancements and their priority with vendors and custodian.   Makes the tough priority calls while communicating effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinates (as product/service owner) with key internal stakeholders and contributors to the final packaging of new service offerings including marketing, training/documentation, operations and sales.   Ensures that new service offering adoption plans are in synch with those used by Sales in target setting. Manages the roll-out process and all associated updates/fixes required.
  • Manages a small in-house analyst team responsible for market, product and client adoption metrics.  Completes targeted competitive analysis to ensure MM remains on the forefront of client service value.   Hands-on experience (and love) for data driven decision making.  Accountable for the profitability of the services portfolio.

  • Proven ability and bandwidth to personally lead, identify, design and implement data-driven and business case proven new services. Comfortable in holding themselves, their teams and others in the organization accountable for their role in delivering and supporting new service offerings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following domains of an advisory service practice:
  • Advisory process (from lead to long term client)
  • Financial planning (how to identify the hurdle rate for diverse client base)
  • Business and practice management and reporting (best practices focus)
  • Client statements and associated web experience (making things intuitive)
  • Client account administration (how to support the service offering with minimal complexity)
  • Requirements driven market (by trends in regulatory, compliance and industry standards)
  • Data and platform integration
  • Delivery of (financial) services through external vendor partnerships and (multiple) third party software platforms
